Data Points

Garosu-gil, translated as 'tree-lined street' in Korean, is a locality within Sinsa-dong, situated in Gangnam, Seoul, South Korea. The name originates from the ginkgo trees gracing the area's streets. Garosu-gil is renowned for its upscale boutiques, galleries, restaurants, and cafes. Together with Cheongdam-dong Luxury Shopping Street 청담동 명품 거리 in Cheongdam-dong and Apgujeong Rodeo Street 압구정 로데오 거리 in Apgujeong-dong, linked by the main Apgujeong-ro, Garosu-gil forms a central hub for fashion and trends in Seoul. Notably, the first Apple Store in South Korea is situated along this vibrant street. Historically, during the 1980s, art galleries began populating the area, gradually paving the way for diverse cultural establishments. This laid the foundation for Garosu-gil's transformation. Subsequently, in the 1990s, the area started attracting young artists and fashion designers, setting the stage for their own brands and earning Garosu-gil the moniker 'Designer Street.' Over time, a myriad of small shops, eateries, and popular clothing stores have enriched the neighborhood, presenting a captivating blend of the old and the new.
