In structural engineering, a Warren truss or equilateral truss is a type of truss employing a weight-saving design based upon equilateral triangles. It is named after the British engineer James Warren, who patented it in 1846.

This bridge, the longest south of the Hangang River, connected the two important transportation points of Gongju-eup and Janggi-myeon. It is a rare example of an iron road bridge from a time when iron bridges were generally built for railways. It opened a new chapter in the history of bridge construction in Korea with its design featuring Warren truss upper chord members that are bent into curved arches.
