The Sbrojavaccas or Sbrogliavaccas are a noble Friulian family. Family of presumed Frankish origin, established itself starting from the XIII century as feudal lord of the patriarch of Aquileia . The family's main residence was the castle of Torrate, near the current hamlet of the same name in the municipality of Chions. Over the years they received other territories and investitures also from the counts of Gorizia, from the bishop of Concordia and from the abbot of Sesto al Reghena; in particular, in 1340 they obtained lands near Orsago and Bibano as a gift from the patriarch of Aquileia, and in 1511 they were granted complete dominion over Villotta. With the arrival of the Serenissima, the investitures and ancestral domains were reconfirmed and from 1620 the family was able to sit in the parliament of the Patria del Friuli. Under the Kingdom of Lombardy-Venetia they were again confirmed as nobles, in 1822.

This elegant, probably 16th century palace belonged to the Counts of Polcenigo and Sbrojavacca. The garden hosts a monumental magnolia, planted in the second half of the 18th century that is thought to be the oldest specimen of this species in Friuli. Next to the Palace rises a massive construction, built in the 1750s to substitute a smaller corn mill. The structure, owned by the Counts of Polcenigo and their partner Carlo Carini, a doctor and a scholar, was used as a silk spinning mill till around 1825. The mill exploited the waters of the Gorgazzetto that there flows underneath the palaces. Silk fabric and elegant stockings were made out of the silk processed here.
