Podravina, known as Podravje in Slovenian, refers to the Drava river basin in both Croatia and Slovenia. Between 1929 and 1941, the area was a province of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia named Drava Banovina, with its capital in Ljubljana. This historical province encompassed a significant portion of present-day Slovenia. In modern times, one of the Croatian counties is named Virovitica-Podravina, but the official capital of the region is Koprivnica, which also serves as the capital of Koprivnica-Križevci County. Along the course of the Drava river, several major cities and towns thrive: Cities and towns in Slovenia: Dravograd, Maribor, Ptuj. Cities and towns in Croatia: Varaždin, Koprivnica (Capital of Croatian Podravina), Đurđevac, Virovitica, Slatina, Osijek.
