Doiran Lake (Macedonian: Дојранско Езеро, Dojransko Ezero; Greek: Λίμνη Δοϊράνη, Límni Dhoïráni), also spelled Dojran Lake is a lake with an area of 43.1 km2 (16.6 sq mi) shared between North Macedonia (27.3 km2, 10.5 sq mi) and Greece (15.8 km2, 6.1 sq mi). To the west is the city of Nov Dojran (Нов Дојран), to the east the village of Mouries, to the north the mountain Belasica/Beles and to the south the Greek town of Doirani. The lake has a rounded shape, a maximum depth of 10 m (33 ft) and a north-to-south length of 8.9 km (5.5 mi) and is 7.1 km (4.4 mi) at its widest, making it the third largest lake partially in North Macedonia after Lake Ohrid and Lake Prespa.

Bogdanci (Macedonian: Богданци) is a small town in North Macedonia, close to the border with Greece. The space of the Gevgelian ravine that comprise the space of the Bogdanci field is located in the south and the south east part of North Macedonia. A part of the ravine is in Greece. The region is in the down flow of the river Vardar. There is Kozhuf, the mountain on west, some hills on north, the mountains Belasica and Kara Balija on east and on south it's open to Greece. This location has a vantage point as for the disposition of the space and the traffic connection. The vintage point of Bogdanci in the Gevgelian valley is good. It's on some 80–90 meters attitude above the sea level. There is the expressway E-75 on some 9 km (5.6 mi) on the west side, it's 10 km (6.2 mi) far away from the center of Gevgelija, 7 km (4.3 mi) from the border between Greece and North Macedonia and 5 km (3.1 mi) from the Vardar river. The Dojran Lake and Dojran are on some 20 km (12 mi) on east of Bogdanci. Today with the development of the ravine's center Gevgelija the gravitation occupy of Bogdanci is shrank. Near Bogdanci are located the Bogdanci wind turbines. There are 6,011 residents in the town of Bogdanci.

Nikolik (Turkish : Nüklüş-köyü ) is a village in Dojran Municipality. The village is located near the northern shore of the Dojran Lake. It is 12.5 kilometers north of the municipal center Star Dojran, 19.5 kilometers northeast of Bogdanci and 29.5 kilometers northeast of Gevgelija. According to the statistics of Vasil K'nchov (Macedonia, Ethnography and Statistics) from 1900, 160 inhabitants lived in Nikolik, all Macedonians. According to the exarchal secretary Dimitar Mishev, (La Macédoine et sa Population Chrétienne) in 1905 there were 200 Macedonians in Nikolik, under the rule of the Bulgarian exarchy. According to the last census of 2021, 520 inhabitants lived in the village, of which 498 Macedonians, 11 Serbs and 11 persons without data.

Doirani (Greek: Δοϊράνη) is a town and former municipality in the Kilkis regional unit. It is situated on the shores of Dojran Lake, which marks the border between Greece and North Macedonia. The municipal unit has an area of 81.213 km2 (31.4 sq mi). It had a population of 1,404, according to the 2011 census. It is the Greek part of the former municipality of Doyuran, which was divided in 1913 by the new borders created between Greece and what was then Serbia. The part on the other side of the border is called Dojran. It is 23 kilometres (14.3 mi) from Kilkis and 69 kilometres (42.9 mi) north of Thessaloniki, on an Elevation of 160m (520 ft). On the beach of the lake, there are refreshment stands, picturesque fish taverns, playgrounds and other sports facilities for visitors. In the area and during the Second Balkan War on 23 June 1913, the battle of the same name was fought between Greeks and Bulgarians. The day after the battle of Kilkis, Greek troops attacked the Bulgarians and captured the railway station and the then-town, which was a substantial supply base for them.Doirani was the site of much Greek-Bulgarian inter-ethnic fighting during the Macedonian Struggle in the early 20th century. Konstantinos Papagiannakis from Doirani was the most prominent Greek Macedonian fighter in the area. The lake also formed the southernmost line of the Macedonian front of World War I and its southern shore was the scene of yet another battle, this time between the allied Greek and British troops, attacking from the south, and the Bulgarian troops who were to the east of the lake. In 1934 it was annexed to the newly founded prefecture of Kilkis, and in 1940 its name was corrected to Doirani. In 1997 it was designated the seat of the municipality of the same name. Today, on a hill a few hundred meters south of the lake, there is a monument to the battle and two cemeteries for the Greek and British soldiers.

Nov Dojran is a village in the Municipality of Dojran, on the shore of the Dojran Lake. New Dojran is located in the southeastern part of Macedonia, on the western shore of the Dojran Lake, 2.5 kilometers north of the municipal center of Star Dojran, 18 kilometers southeast of Valandovo, 15 kilometers east of Bogdanci and 25 kilometers east of Gevgelija. According to the last census of 2021, 997 inhabitants lived in the village, of which 935 Macedonians, 10 Turks, 10 Serbs, 3 others and 39 persons without data. In Nov Dojran there is the central elementary school 'Kocho Racin', which is the only school with nine years of education in the municipality.

Star Dojran - village and administrative center of Dojran Municipality, on the shore of Dojran Lake. Star Dojran is one of the most famous tourist attractions in Macedonia. It is located three kilometers south of the larger settlement of Nov Dojran, and it is also a few kilometers away from the Greek border. The Turks gave the third name to the city - DOJRAN. In the second half of the 15th century, Dojran was a nahiya - the center of several village municipalities. Almost in the same period (1519) or 148 years after the arrival of the Turks in Dojran, some documents say that 232 families lived there. Of them, only three were Muslim, and all the remaining 229 families were Christian. A more massive colonization of Dojran with a Turkish population took place in the first half of the 17th century. According to the last population census of Macedonia from 2021 , Star Dojran has 413 inhabitants.
