This is the site of a former public laundry located at the stream under the wall to the right of Oesammun (the outer three gates) of New Seonwonjeon Shrine at Changdeokgung Palace. A two-holed flat bridge measuring about 1,5 m in length and 1,5 m in width was built over the stream at the spot where water flowed from the palace to the outside, and then the palace wall was established on the bridge. As the area in which Joseon Dynasty), there were several popular public laundries within the city wall, of which, this is one of the oldest along with the laundry at Cheonggyecheon Stream.
