This is the most important place in the May 18 Memorial Park. This site was created as a sculpture park and memorial site dedicated to the memory of the May 18 Democratic Uprising under the theme of 'Gwangju! To be the everlasting light!' by Gwangju City between December 1998 and December 1999. The sculpture park and memorial place have a range of 3,310 square meters and are on the ground and underground levels, respectively. The sculpture park, where the noble spirit of the May 18 Democratic Uprising is expressed in artistic forms, will be remembered as a historical place by visitors.
