'This compact urban retreat, spanning 0.85 hectares, offers various inviting spots for dining, reading, or playing chess. A swift stream flows into a tiered fountain, encircled by pergolas and abundant greenery. Even after the vibrant summer blooms have faded, the mosaics in the streambed and along the pathway maintain a colorful display throughout the winter. Emery Barnes Park, located at 1170 Richards Street (@ Davie Street), was developed in three phases. Phase 1, facing Richards Street and completed in 2003, features a fountain, stream, benches, and plantings. Phase 2, completed in the summer of 2010, includes an off-leash dog park, a playground for children, seating areas, and an open lawn encompassed by an oval pedestrian path. Phase 3 finalized the park's design, incorporating an entrance plaza at Davie and Seymour Streets. This addition seamlessly integrates Emery Barnes Park into a communal hub for downtown residents. The plaza boasts a pedestrian gateway surrounded by trees, shrubs, benches, trellises, and chess board tables. Phase 3 concluded in April 2012.
