This bridge, the longest south of the Hangang River, connected the two important transportation points of Gongju-eup and Janggi-myeon. It is a rare example of an iron road bridge from a time when iron bridges were generally built for railways. It opened a new chapter in the history of bridge construction in Korea with its design featuring Warren truss upper chord members that are bent into curved arches.
