The Vajda Palace, constructed in 1910, was a creation of architects Géza Márkus and Frigyes Spiegel in Szeged. Originally designed to serve as an elegant residence, the palace occupies a prime spot along the picturesque riverside promenade. Its façade, exuding a robust presence, gazes toward the riverbank. The architecture forms the shape of the letter E, with the shorter sides facing the street and the spine extending parallel to the lot's edge away from the street. Although initially intended as a residential palace, the Vajda Palace had a short-lived role in this capacity. In 1926, the establishment was acquired by Szegedi Lloyd, an organization representing industrialists and merchants in the city. The palace underwent a transformation into a community hub for its members. The space encompassed a civic casino, library, and various clubs. An intriguing historical moment occurred within its walls on December 2, 1944, when the Hungarian National Independence Front, a coalition seeking to replace Hungary's right-wing elite during World War II, was founded. Following 1945, the palace served as the city headquarters for the National Peasants' Party, later transitioning to the Hungarian Workers' Party during the 1950s. Subsequently, the building hosted a school. The year 1956 witnessed the arrival of the regional daily newspaper Délmagyarország's editorial office, which produced the area's most prominent press output until the mid-2000s. In 2007, the state initiated a renovation of the palace, followed by the relocation of the prosecutor's office within its walls in 2009. At this time, an inscription in Latin ('In Servitude Legum' – in the service of law) along with the figure of Justice were affixed to the façade .
