The SymphonHy gigafactory, inaugurated in Saint-Fons, France, by the joint venture Symbio (Faurecia, Hella, Michelin, and Stellantis), is Europe's largest factory. With 700 employees, it aims to initially produce 16,000 hydrogen fuel cells, expanding to 50,000 by 2026 as part of the HyMotive project supported by the EU and France. The factory houses a significant innovation center with over 450 engineers specializing in various fields. Originating as a start-up within the CEA research center in Grenoble in 2010, Symbio initially collaborated with Renault in 2012 to equip electric vehicles with fuel cells, subsequently enhancing the range of Renault's electric vans.
