The settlement of Juodkrante was founded by the lagoon as a result of a tavern and a post station, which were established in 1673. The local cemetery slowly expanded to the north of the settlement. Like in the other cemeteries, the uniquely shaped wooden tomb monuments and plaques were erected here as well. The cemetery was ravaged during the post war period, with only a small area of the old graves surviving. Only this section of the cemetery is considered to be ethnographic.
