The Saint Spyridon Church, also known as Chiesa di San Spiridione in Italian, is a Serbian Orthodox church situated in Trieste.
The Orthodox community in Trieste emerged in 1748, but it was in 1751 when Empress Maria Theresa allowed religious freedom for Orthodox Christians, attracting Serbian traders. A church built in the mid-18th century served both Serbs and Greeks. Financial difficulties led to Serbs aiding the Greeks and requesting their own priest due to language barriers. In 1771, the first permanent Serbian priest was appointed. Conflict over church affairs led to the dissolution of the joint community in 1781, prompting the Greeks to leave and build another church dedicated to St. Nicholas. The Serbian community established itself independently in 1782. A new Saint Spyridon Church was constructed from 1861 to 1868, holding numerous historical objects and artworks dating back to 1751. The parish has been under different dioceses, currently falling under the Serbian Orthodox Eparchy of Austria and Switzerland since 2011. Adjacent to the church is a Serbian school named after Jovan Miletić, a Sarajevo merchant who supported the education of Serbian children in Trieste.
