The Romanian Orthodox Cathedral named the 'Holy Trinity' Orthodox Cathedral (Catedrala 'Sfânta Treime' din Arad in Romanian) is situated in Arad, within the western Romanian region of Crișana. It serves as the primary cathedral for the episcopal see of Arad, led by Timotei, Archbishop of Arad (Timotei Seviciu). The laying of the cathedral's foundation stone was performed by Bishop Timotei in November 1991. Substantial construction commenced in 1992, focusing initially on stabilizing the ground and establishing the church's foundation. The construction process continued until 2006, encompassing the final exterior enhancements and the completion of a sizable front icon. Due to the cathedral's distinct design, bells were imported from a foundry in Innsbruck, Austria, even before the completion of construction. These bells, with a combined weight of 6.56 tons, were installed in December 2003. By 2006, the cathedral was adorned with four gilded crosses on its domes. Among them, three smaller crosses measured 3.5 meters each, while a larger one reached a height of 7.30 meters. On the occasion of Saint Nicholas' feast day in 2008, the cathedral was officially inaugurated by Patriarch Daniel of All Romania. The ceremony brought together clergy and believers to participate in the consecration and unveiling of the cathedral. As part of the cathedral's design, a temporary altar was initially used above the ground level and eventually positioned beneath the main altar within the nave. This temporary altar was blessed during the inauguration and later became a permanent fixture.
