  • Home
  • Albania
  • Vithkuq

The overall architectural design of the church of St. George is almost identical to the other monuments of Christian cult of Vithkuq and Voskopoja: a large three-aisled basilica, with a nave, a narthex and an arched porch. The interior of the church was originally decorated with mural paintings, from which only the murals of the eastern wall are preserved. The representation of Divine Liturgy on both sides of the apse, constitute the most eminent scene preserved. Based on stylistic analysis the murals date to the second half of the 18th century and are attributed to the workshop of Constantine and Athanas from Korça.
