The Motherwell Homestead, a National Historic Site of Canada, is located just south of Abernethy, Saskatchewan. It honors William Richard Motherwell, Saskatchewan's first minister of agriculture and later federal agriculture minister under Mackenzie King's government.
The homestead's stone house, named Lanark Place after Motherwell's Ontario home, is inspired by similar farmsteads in that province. The 3.59-hectare site includes the main house, fields bordered by fences and shelter belts, and several agricultural buildings.
Visitors experience early 1900s agriculture, with the house, barn, and outbuildings restored to their 1907 appearance. Park staff wear period clothing, and livestock such as hogs, cows, and chickens are present during the season (May 21 to September 1). A restaurant and gift shop are also run by the Friends of the Motherwell Homestead.
