Haedong Yonggungsa Temple - 해동 용궁사
The Haedong Yonggung Temple, known as 해동 용궁사 in Korean, is located in Gijang-gun, Busan, South Korea. Although the temple lays claim to its establishment in 1376, historical evidence refutes this assertion. This sprawling temple complex stands out as one of the rare coastal temples in Korea. Its picturesque location near Haeundae Beach on the eastern side of Busan attracts numerous visitors, especially during Buddha's Birthday festivities, when the grounds shimmer with the glow of paper lanterns. Dedicated to Haesu Gwaneum Daebul (해수관음 대불), the Sea Goddess Buddha of Mercy, an embodiment of Guanyin, the temple pays homage to this divine entity.
