The Goseong Unification Observatory, South Korea's northernmost observatory, provides panoramic views of the DMZ, the East Sea, and North Korea's Geumgangsan Mountain. Established as a symbol of hope for Korean reunification, it features an exhibition hall dedicated to educating visitors about the Korean War (1950-1953). Due to its location near the DMZ, visitors must present an ID, such as a passport or alien registration card, for entry. The observatory operates from 09:00 to 16:50 from March 1st to July 14th and from August 21st to October 31st, with extended hours from 09:00 to 17:50 between July 15th and August 20th. During the winter months, from November 1st to February 28th, it is open from 09:00 to 15:50.
