The fountain in Ivan Kobler Square in Rijeka was built in 1974 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Rijeka's Paper Factory, which is the oldest of its kind in this region of Europe. The fountain's design was created by Rijeka architect Igor Emili. To pay tribute to the history of the factory, the fountain was constructed using paper press equipment (tijesak) that was manufactured in the same factory. This unique feature gives the fountain a distinctive appearance and represents the significance of the paper industry in the city's heritage.
