Sveta Petka Church - Varna
The construction of Sveta Paraskeva Petka church, also known as Sveta Petka, began in 1901 in Varna. The building was inaugurated by bishop Jossif in 1906. The origin of the funding for the church remains unknown, but it is believed that wealthy individuals contributed the funds. Unlike many other churches in Varna, Sveta Petka managed to survive without destruction. In 1973, the walls of the church were adorned with icons, a process that took over a year to complete by artists Dimitar Bakalski and Sergei Rostovtsev. Icon-painter Alexander Sorokin crafted the obligatory church ornaments. While the exact date of the first religious service held in the church is unknown, it was functional even before its official inauguration.
