Rijeka City Hall
The City Hall in Rijeka operates from the former City Savings Bank building, completed in 1914 just before the outbreak of the First World War. Designed by the Messinger brothers and Ernest Fratriscevits from Budapest, the interior of the building exhibits their architectural expertise, while the front facade was crafted by the local engineer Bruno Slokovich. The building originally served both residential and commercial purposes, with a strong influence from historical Italian construction styles, as desired by the client. Following the war, it became the property of Banco di Roma. Today, as the central hub of the City government, the City Hall stands as a prominent and significant symbol in Rijeka's city center, both visually and politically.
