Beregi House - Beregi kuća
The Beregi House, located on Deák Ferenc Street 22 in Szeged, stands out among the city's impressive palaces as a remarkable example of brick architecture and Art Nouveau style. The house was built in 1902-1903. Designed by Pál Kótay, this building showcases the essence of Hungarian Art Nouveau, featuring intricate details that reflect the craftsmanship of local artisans. The facade's red and dun-yellow brick colors, along with dark red plastered surfaces, are complemented by pyrogranite flower ornaments inspired by folk art. Elaborate wall accents and fired brick cordon ornaments create a rhythmic pattern, with higher levels displaying even more intricate brickwork. The building resembles a monumental jewel box, adorned with splendid moldings, finials, and an orientally decorated spire at the corner. The ground floor's original beauty is somewhat diminished, but the staircase, internal facade, and circular gallery retain a distinct fin de siècle charm.
