The Academy of Music, Theater, and Fine Arts of the Republic of Moldova traces its origins back to the State Conservatory of Chisinau, established in 1940, and earlier musical education institutions active in Chisinau since 1919 when the Unirea Conservatory was founded under the initiative of G. Enescu. Over time, the institution has undergone name changes and structural transformations. Initially focused solely on music, the Conservatory introduced the specialty of Acting in the late 1950s. In 1965, within the State Institute of Arts (formed in 1964 from the Conservatory), the Department of Directing and the Actor's Art were established. Subsequently, the Faculty of Art Theatrical (now Theatrical, Choreographic, and Multimedia Art) was created in 1988. The Faculty of Fine Arts was founded in 1984. The current form of the Academy of Music, Theater, and Fine Arts emerged from the reorganization of the State University of Arts (resulting from the merger of the G. Musicescu Academy of Music and the State Institute of Arts in 1999) on September 1, 2002. Presently, the Academy of Music, Theater, and Fine Arts encompasses various fields of university and postgraduate artistic education. It obtained accreditation in July 2006, followed by scientific accreditation certificates in July 2009 and 2014. The teaching staff at AMTAP consists of renowned figures from the music, theater, and visual arts realms, including I. Josan, M. Munteanu, L. Panfil, Gh. Mustea, Gh. Ciobanu, I. Matei, N. Cozaru, I.
