Skrino (Bulgarian: Скрино) is a village in western Bulgaria, located in the municipality of Boboshevo, Kyustendil Province. With a population of 66 inhabitants as of 2013, it is situated in the Ruen mountain, which is the northernmost part of the Vlahina mountain range. The village has been known by the same name since the 9th century when it was a part of the Bulgarian Empire. It is historically believed to be the birthplace of Saint John of Rila, the revered patron saint of the Bulgarian people. Nearby, you can find the Ruen Monastery, and interestingly, the Skrino Rocks in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica are named after this village.
