Situated on a hill rising along the narrow stretch of land that divides the Ionian Sea from Lake Butrint, at the entrance of the Ksamil peninsula, the monastery is encompassed by a formidable stone wall equipped with numerous defensive openings. The monastery's construction distinctly showcases its advanced architectural design and execution. The church is comprised of a complete naos, narthex, and altar. Architecturally, the church's structural configuration can be traced back to the late 17th century or the early 18th century. It was officially designated as a Cultural Heritage site, awarded the status of a 1st Category Cultural Monument on January 15th, 1963.
