Simonov zaliv Archaeological Park is a part of the UP Center of Science, which brings together departments dedicated to showcasing the scientific and research endeavors of the University of Primorska to the broader audience. Within the archaeological park, visitors can glimpse into the past to understand the historical way of life in our region. Additionally, at the Piran Aquarium, you can submerge yourself in the fascinating underwater world of the Northern Adriatic. Situated within the vicinity of the Roman seaside villa from the 1st century BC, the Simonov zaliv Archaeological Park is safeguarded as a nationally significant archaeological monument owing to its size, location, and the genuine remains it hosts. Visitors to the park can explore well-preserved Roman mosaics and remnants of the residential area, spanning an expansive 3000 square meters. Adjacent to the park, traces of a Roman port can be found in the nearby bay, accessible for viewing by IPPA divers. Within the visitor interpretation center, housed in two pavilions, you can delve into the Roman and villa inhabitants' lives, and understand the construction of the villa. Engaging activities await visitors in both areas, including tasks like loading amphorae, constructing a Roman vault, operating a pulley, and solving an animal puzzle.
