Section of the fortress wall of Philippopolis built back in 172 under Emperor Marcus Aurelius. Although damaged during the Gothic invasion in 251 it continued its function. In the 3rd and 4th centuries AD renovations in this construction were made. In the 4th century AD this area was crossed by an ancient aqueduct.
