Saint Nicholas Church, known as Biserica Sfântul Nicolae in Romanian, stands proudly as a Romanian Orthodox place of worship situated in Brașov. It holds a commanding presence within the historical expanse of Șcheii Brașovului. This church's origins trace back to 1292 when its foundation was laid. Its significance was acknowledged in a Papal decree issued by Pope Boniface IX in 1399. In a collaborative effort between the local populace and Vlad Călugărul, the Voivode (Prince) of Wallachia, the church underwent a stone-based reconstruction commencing in 1495. Further contributions for its enhancement were made around 1512, courtesy of Neagoe Basarab. Originally designed in the Gothic architectural style, Saint Nicholas Church later underwent a transformation, adorning itself with elements emblematic of the Baroque aesthetic. Within its confines, one can find frescoes adorning the walls, masterfully crafted by the renowned muralist, Mișu Popp.
