Sabile is rich with springs and streams, but no one has ever counted them. A lot of town's houses get drinking water from these springs. "The curved Innkeeper" is kind of a central streamlet that starts as a spring. This spring has been flowing through Sabile for many years. In the past it ran across the street and in this spring at the side of the street people washed their legs after the Song Festival. In the first half of the 20th century (during the first Republic of Latvia) there was a wooden manger here, but during the years of Soviet occupation - a curved metal pipe. In this time the spring got its name, because the pipe was curved, but close to the spring there was an entry area and from this spring the water can be drawn as it is done in an Inn. "The curved Innkeeper" got its current form in the summer of 2010 before the Sabile Wine Festival. The pump, which was placed here at that time and still remains to this day, was found in a well near Sabile old post office building located on Talsu Street at Sabile Castle Mound. Nowadays the stream further goes under the street in the direction of Sabile Town Square, where it flows to the surface and then into the Abava River.
