Rising before you are Bangsa Towers, meaning 'towers to protect against misfortune'. These towers were traditionally erected in villages that were built on inauspicious sites according to the ancient principles of Feng Shui. Feng Shui is a system of laws, originating from China, which are used to determine the best locations for buildings and the like in relation to the flow of Chi (energy). Bangsa Towers were thought to protect a village from misfortune. It is hoped that these towers, built with pride by the Seogwipo Work Cup Committee, will protect Jeju island from any misfortune as well.
