Litamanda
On June 12th, 2021, in northern Macomia district, seven individuals from Litamanda were brutally beheaded while working in the fields near the village. Initially, residents suspected insurgents due to the gruesome nature of the killings. However, local militia members later shifted suspicion towards government forces. Soldiers in the vicinity were vague when questioned about the incident and some were seen with bloodstained uniforms. Allegedly implicated soldiers departed for Macomia town shortly after. Now, residents of Litamanda speculate that these soldiers orchestrated the killings to pillage the victims' belongings, using beheading to misattribute the act to insurgents.
