On July 25, in Chai village near Macomia city within Mozambique's Cabo Delgado province, militants aligned with the Islamic State took the lives of two civilians. Subsequently, following the militants' withdrawal from the village the following day, Mozambican security forces launched a response to the attack. It's worth noting that these militants had previously attacked and temporarily held control of Macomia in late May (2020), but Mozambican security forces successfully expelled them from the city.
