Mikado is a hamlet in Saskatchewan, Canada, named after the historical title for the Emperor of Japan. It is located within the rural municipality of Sliding Hills No. 273 and is situated at the intersection of Highway 5 and Highway 754. Mikado has a flag stop for Via Rail's Winnipeg–Churchill train.
Founded after Japan's victories over the Russian Empire in the Russo-Japanese War (1904–1905), Mikado was part of a wave of names honoring Japanese achievements during the war. This period of Japanese popularity in the British Empire led to several locations in Saskatchewan being named in tribute, including Togo, Kuroki, and Mikado, as well as Oyama Regional Park and CN Siding Fukushiama.
According to the 2021 Census of Population by Statistics Canada, Mikado had a population of 40, residing in 17 of its 19 private dwellings—a 60% increase from its 2016 population of 25. The hamlet covers an area of 0.41 km² (0.16 sq mi) and had a population density of 97.6/km² (252.7/sq mi) in 2021.
