Luuq is a town located in Gedo province in the south west of Somalia. The inhabitants are facing compounding issues. There are security issues due to 'Al-Shabaab' - a Islamic fundamentalist group who are based in Somalia. Also due to climate change they are experiencing the worst drought in the last 50 years. Personal stories are shared, a farmer who lost all his animals. Struggle to find food, experiencing malnourishment. The doubling of prices of food found in the markets make it inaccessible for the majority of persons. Also shared is a project offering some hope for a few. On the banks of the river circling the city there is a project offering women a small plot of land and a plan to plant drought resistant crops. Still, aid is needed and the global response is slow.
