Jaunpils is a settlement in Zemgale, the center of Jaunpils parish in Tukuma region. The village is located on the banks of Bikstupe near the P104 highway. Jaunpilis has the county council and administrative institutions, a high school, a library , a Lutheran church, a sports center, a dairy, cafes, shops, a pharmacy, a hotel and a castle. The settlement was formed near the Jaunpils manor (Neuenburg) and the Jaunpils castle built in the second half of the 14th century. In 1932, Jaunpils, as the only one in Tukuma district, obtained the status of a densely populated place (village).
