Drama Theater operating in Šiauliai since 1931. The Šiauliai Theater is an iconic modernist object of the city. The building was designed as a cinema in Kaunas, later adapted for Šiauliai. Designed by Stasys Kudokas, its first interior was a project of Karolis Reisonas who was also possibly the co-author of the adaptation of the project to Šiauliai. The theater was damaged by fire during the war, but the original façade has survived. Restored after the war as part of a project of the city's chief architect Eduard Budreika. During the 2014-2015 renovation of the building, the architectural expression of the Šiauliai State Drama Theater was changed, sparking debate in the community of architects. The renovated façade features an additional pediment adapted for hanging advertisements for performances. The color of the building has also changed - a combination of light and dark brown colors has since been added. Metal construction covered with insulation material resembling columns were used.
