Data Point related to: ELEMENT
Cheong Wa Dae (also known as the Blue House) served as the official residence and executive office of the president of the Republic of Korea from 1948 to 2022. In addition to its beautiful gardens, the complex is home to several important former government buildings, such as the presidential office, the presidential residence, the state reception hall, and the press headquarters. During the Joseon period (1392-1910), this site served as the rear garden of Gyeongbokgung Palace and was used as a venue for state examinations, military training, and ritual agriculture. However, most of the Joseon-era buildings on this site were demolished during the Japanese colonial period (1910-1945). Not only is Cheong Wa Dae important to Korea's modern and contemporary history, but it is also home to a number of natural and cultural heritages, including mountainous surroundings, old trees, historic buildings, and a Buddhist statue, making it a place worthy of preservation.
