Berberov Buk, also known as Vodopad Zrmanja or the Waterfalls of Zrmanja River, is not your typical waterfall. Unlike conventional waterfalls formed by erosion, Berberov Buk features a unique ledge created by tufa, a type of limestone precipitated from karst water rich in limestone. This growing rock formation gives rise to rimstone pools, interspersed with small caves known as primary tufa caves, forming a spectacular rim across the river.
Situated in the Muškovci hamlet within Park prirode Velebit (Nature Park Velebit), Berberov Buk stands out as the most remarkable among numerous rims and waterfalls along the Zrmanja River. The site boasts tourist infrastructure, including parking lots, restaurants, cafés, bungalows, beaches, and a 1 km trail along the waterfalls, making it a popular destination for visitors seeking natural beauty and adventure.
