Baznickalns is an archaeological monument of national significance - a Stone Age settlement. On Baznickalns there is a building which was built in 1909 as an oratory of the Pavilosta Brothers Parish. From 1948, the building has been hosting the house of cultural activities of the town of Pavilosta. In this area, Dzintaru iela used to lie around the hill in the direction of the sea, along the area of the existing fish processing enterprise. In 1927, the hill was levelled and the street was straightened. From 1938 to 1939, archaeological excavations took place here. The flint chips found here support the existence of a Mesolithic era settlement. In 1958, the edge of the hill was reinforced with concrete plates. The Semi-Centennial Park was created in preparation for the anniversary of the town of Pavilosta. The first trees were planted there by a teacher of the Pavilosta elementary school, Ernests Šneiders, and his school pupils in 1927. In May 1929, when Pavilosta celebrated its 50th anniversary, the second president of the State of Latvia, Gustavs Zemgals, was among the guests of the celebrations; he planted an oak in the park.
