Père-Lachaise cemetery is one of the world's most visited burial grounds. It has long been a popular place for tourists to visit, and now wildlife is making its way back as well. Nature has been taking back the cemetery after a plan to phase out pesticides and allow the cemetery to become a 'green lung' of Paris, a dense city wanting to be become more climate friendly. Also across France cemeteries are starting to become more 'eco-friendly'. Initially there was some doubt but the initiative has become accepted and well liked for a number of reasons, particularly the increase in bird and animal life.
