The originators of Kulautuva resort are the Fugalevičius family who acquired a manor from Juozas Šarakauskas in 1886. This family, who raised 11 children, owned the manor until 1948. Before World War I, masters of the manor Praskovija and Feodisijus built 21 summer houses and rented them for holiday makers. The majority of buildings burned down during the war, whereas the gentry with their daughters moved to their other manor near Minsk. One of the gentry's sons Konstantin became the first leader of Lithuanian aviation. Upon return to Kulautuva in 1922, Lidija Fugalevičiūtė opened a boarding house. She inherited the manor together with her sister Liudmila and brother Sergey. During the war, the family saved children. In 1948, the sisters were exiled to Siberia. For saving people they were awarded 'Rescue and perishing' crosses and after death granted the title of the 'Righteous among Nations.' To commemorate this family, a roofed pillar by Adolfas Teresius was mounted in 2014 at the initiative of Sergey's son Vytautas Fugalevičius.
