The City Stone is located in the town of Përmet and it represents a dual monument: First Category Cultural Monument and a Nature Monument. Archaeological excavations have not been carried out yet, although the stone is a historical and tourist resource. It is approximately 15 meters wide, 25 meters tall, with a diameter of about 30 meters and an area of about 650 square meters. On the sides of this rock there are fragments of walls with thick lime mortar. On the upper surface of the rock are still found the remains of stone walls, similar to the fragments of walls that rise around the sides of the rock. There is a 5 x 2.5 m reservoir, an unidentified monument with 6 x 3.2 m dimensions, and a 3 x 3 m watchtower. Given the separate tracts of walls we can say that we are dealing with a fortress erected in the early Middle Ages on the City Stone. This symbol is related to the legend of the Ottoman invasion of Përmet in 1417, according to which the local ruler Premt, after heroically resisting and not falling alive at the hands of the Ottoman invaders, threw himself from the stone, together with his daughter, Aleksandra, towards the Vjosa River, and with this martyr death, gave his name to the city, Përmet.
