Tom Wright, a British architect born in 1957, gained renown as the designer of the iconic Burj Al Arab in Dubai. After completing his architectural education, Wright joined the firm Lister Drew Haines Barrow, later acquired by Atkins, where he eventually became head of the architecture division. His vision for the Burj Al Arab, conceived in 1994 and completed in 1999, aimed to create an emblematic structure for Dubai, echoing its maritime heritage while projecting forward-looking modernity. Following his tenure at Atkins, Wright co-founded WKK Architects, later restructured as WKA (Wright Kuruvilla Architects Ltd) in 2024. Among his notable projects is the Ribbon Building in Tehran, characterized by a striking ribbon-like facade. Wright's recent work includes co-designing Celebrity Cruises' innovative ship, Celebrity Edge, introducing new concepts to the cruise industry.
