Song Sang-hyeon (Korean: 송상현; 1551 – 23 May 1592) served as a civil minister, writer, and general in the Joseon dynasty. He held the position of prefect of Dongnae during the Siege of Dongnae, which marked one of the initial clashes of the Imjin War. Engaging Japanese general Konishi Yukinaga's forces, Song led his troops but suffered defeat. Despite facing demands of surrender, Song bravely refused, resulting in his capture and subsequent demise. Known by the pen name Cheongok, he was also recognized by the courtesy name Deokgu, while his posthumous name was Chungnyeol.
