Alexei Anatolyevich Navalny, a prominent Russian opposition leader, lawyer, and anti-corruption activist, played a significant role in advocating for political reforms and challenging the government of President Vladimir Putin. He founded the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK) and was recognized internationally for his human rights work, receiving awards such as the Sakharov Prize. Navalny utilized social media to expose corruption and organize political demonstrations against the ruling party, United Russia. Despite facing politically motivated legal challenges, including suspended sentences and accusations of violating parole, Navalny remained resilient. He survived a poisoning attempt in 2020, which he attributed to Putin's regime, leading to widespread protests upon his return to Russia and subsequent imprisonment. Navalny's imprisonment was further extended, with his organizations labeled as extremist. His mysterious disappearance from prison culminated in his death in February 2024, prompting both domestic and international outcry and allegations against Russian authorities regarding his demise.
