Alecu Russo (17 March 1819 – 5 February 1859) was a Romanian literary figure credited with discovering the elaborate form of the national folk ballad Miorița. His notable works include "Studie Moldovană," "Iași and its inhabitants in 1840," and travel accounts like "Piatra Teiului" and "Stânca Corbului." Russo's contributions extend to literary magazines, where he published "Amintiri" and the prose poem "Cântarea României." His legacy lives on through these works, and he rests at peace in a solemn burial at the Bărboi Church in Iași, having passed away shortly before the age of 40.
