Plovput, a Croatian firm, engages in waterway maintenance, lighthouse operation, and various other endeavors. Among its diverse activities is the high-end leasing of lighthouses for tourist accommodations. In 2010, the company's net income surged to 10.0 million kuna from the 2.1 million kuna reported in 2009, coinciding with its employment of 263 individuals. Established in 1992 by a decree of the Croatian Government, Plovput is fully owned by the Republic of Croatia. It assumed all responsibilities previously managed by the Institution for maintenance of maritime waterways and took over their assets. Since 1997, it has functioned as a limited liability company following specific legislation enacted by the Croatian Parliament.
