The ancient Rosegg castle, also recognized as Altrosegg, stands atop a hill in Carinthia's Rosental valley. Its origins likely trace back to the latter part of the 12th or early 13th century, undergoing expansions until the onset of the 19th century. Subsequently, it succumbed to ruin. Presently, the castle's remnants reside within the Rosegg Zoo, encompassing the castle hill, and hold designation as historical landmarks. Around 1801, amid the upheaval of the French Wars, a protective wall arose at the hill's base using stones sourced from the castle. Later, when materials were required for a new tower at Rosegg's parish church in 1806/07, Prince Orsini-Rosenberg permitted villagers to utilize stones from the ancient fortress. Following damage to the village by French forces in 1813, the castle endured further dismantling, with only the keep largely escaping destruction. By 1829, Peter Ritter von Bohr gained ownership of Rosegg, initiating the construction of a zoo in 1830. However, by 1833, governance of Rosegg transitioned to Johann I Joseph, Prince of Liechtenstein, a rule that persists through his descendants today. The remnants of the once expansive castle complex, situated on the north side, safeguard fragments of the Romanesque Bergfried. A bergfried, also known as a belfry, is a tall tower commonly seen in medieval castles in German-influenced regions. It serves a defensive purpose similar to the keep found in English or French castles. However, unlike a keep, a bergfried wasn't usually meant for permanent living quarters, focusing primarily on defensive capabilities as a free-standing fighting tower. Despite attempts to demolish it at the close of the 19th century due to purported decay, this structure, along with segments of the outer curtain wall, has endured.

The date preserved on the door of the nave indicates that the church was rebuilt in 1797. This is one of the most representative monuments of Byzantine architecture in the city. It is a three-naved basilica covered with arches and domes. The nave floor is paved with stone slabs, and in the center there is a solar mosaic and calendar which provides a visual chart of the Christian cosmos. Dating back to 1806 the iconostasis, carved from wood and is covered in gold leaf, remains in good condition. The altar area, on the east, preserves parts from the original fresco. In this cathedral, the two famous Codexes of Berat were hidden. Currently, the Cathedral houses the 'Onufri' National Iconographic Museum where some of the most famous icons of Albanian artists have been collected from different churches in Berat and are in this museum.

Constructed between 1806 and 1812 during the period of French rule in Dubrovnik and dedicated to Napoleon the First. Between 1815 and 1882, the Austrian army extended and further adapted the fort. During the Homeland War, 1991 - 1995 (Croatian War of Independence), the fortress became a symbol of heroic defense of Dubrovnik.

Olev's Guild (first mentioned 1341) was a guild for the handicraftsman of 28 smaller guilds, most of whom were Estonians involved in building and transport. The front hall building and the festive halls were situated on Pikk Street (Long Street). The star-vaulted hall built between 1419-1424 is the most beautiful double-vaulted festive hall in Tallinn. The Medieval false windowed gable of the hall building has been lost. A relief of the patron of the Guild, the Norwegian St. Olav (16th century) stands above the goods hatches on the facade of the front hall building. The Guild buildings caught fire in 1679. The guild was closed in 1699, after which the renovated buildings were used as storage and business space. The coats of arms of Burchardt and von zur Mühlen (1749) on the facade of the front hall house indicate the owners of the building at the time. The Brotherhood of Black Heads acquired the front hall building in 1806 and the festive halls in 1919 and had them adapted for their activities.

House of Peter the Great is the oldest museum in Tallinn, which was opened in 1806 on the orders of Russian emperor Alexander I. It exhibits a unique collection of genuine objects that surrounded Peter I (Peter the Great) and Catherine I of Russia during their day-to-day life in Estonia.

Otepää is one of the oldest settlements in Estonia, first mentioned in Russian chronicles in 1116. On the Linnamägi (Town Hill), located next to the church, you will find the Otepää fortress, which has been standing there for over a thousand years and was the most important fortress in the ancient Ugala. A Bishop's Castle and two churches were built on the hill in 1224 on the initiative of Hermann the I, the Bishop of Tartu. One of the churches, the one meant for Estonians, was located outside of the walls of the fortress. Unfortunately we do not know when exactly the Bishop's Castle and churches were destroyed. In 1671 a new church was constructed and in 1850 the interior of the church was repaired and the choir balcony was built. The pipe organ was built in 1852 in Tartu, in the workshop of a well-known organ builder named Kessler. The tower of the church was built in 1860 and the current facade of the church originates from the total reconstruction done in 1890. The altarpiece "Kristus ristil" ("Christ on the cross") was done in 1880. Electricity was installed in the sacred building in 1938. In 1806 a limestone gravestone of general Rennenkampf was placed under the left hand choir. Also note the lock of the first door that dates back to 1772. The bell of Otepää Church was donated by H. Billinghausen and S. Taube. A new bell was given to the church in 1992 as a gift from the Vihti parish in Finland. The architecture of the church is new-gothic and it has a 51 meter tower. Some Interesting Facts: The Otepää St. Mary's (Maarja) Lutheran church is historically linked to the Estonian national flag. On June 4, 1884 the blue-black-white coloured flag of the Estonian Students' Society was consecrated in the hall of Otepää pastor's mansion. The flag later became the civil flag of Estonia and as of 1992 it is the national flag of the Republic of Estonia. The bas-reliefs depicting the birth of the Estonian flag are displayed on the walls of the church and on the stone columns by the side of the entrance. Concerts are held in the church of Otepää, and in summer it is open as a Wayfarers' church. In winter the services are held in the Winter Church.
