Novo Mesto Cathedral, also known as St. Nicholas's Cathedral (Slovene: novomeška stolnica, stolnica sv. Nikolaja), serves as the principal church of the Diocese of Novo Mesto and stands as a prominent landmark within the town. Situated atop a hill overlooking the Krka River (Sava), this stone church holds a significant historical place. Before the establishment of the Diocese of Novo Mesto on April 7, 2006, it functioned as a capitular church and is occasionally referred to as the Capitular Church of St. Nicholas (kapiteljska cerkev or simply Kapitelj). Its architectural style seamlessly combines elements of Gothic and Baroque, with a unique broken longitudinal axis due to the elevated chancel compared to the nave. The church's origins date back to before 1428, with remnants of the original structure, particularly the chancel with its three bays walled on five of eight sides, still preserved. Reconstruction commenced in 1493 concurrent with the establishment of the chapter and continued until 1623. A fire in 1576 caused damage, prompting Provost Polidoro de Montagnana to sponsor renovations, commissioning a new high altar and acquiring Tintoretto's painting, 'The Vision of Saint Nicholas' (c. 1582), which adorns the church. Subsequent enhancements in 1621 introduced Baroque arches to the nave and three Baroque chapels on each side. Throughout the centuries, the church underwent several transformations, including a Gothic-style rework in the 19th century and the installation of new side altars by Valentin Metzinger in 1733. A polygonal belfry replaced an older structure in 1860, while Matija Tomc renovated the main altar in 1868. Further adornments included the decoration of the chancel by Matija Koželj in 1901.

The 'Sf. Treime (Holy Trinity)' Roman-Catholic Church, located in Sibiu's Large Square and dating back to the 18th century, is a significant building. After Sibiu embraced the Reformation, the city lacked Catholic churches for over a century. However, a Catholic community formed in the late 17th century following Transylvania's incorporation into the Austro-Hungarian Empire. With the assistance of Jesuit monks, they constructed this church in the early Viennese Baroque style. The church was consecrated in 1733 by Transylvanian Bishop Georg von Sorger. The tower, separate from the main structure, was completed in 1738 and features a street-level arched passage to the Small Square. The church's austere exterior contrasts with its interior, adorned with Dorian columns and valuable elements like a significant Baroque fresco and allegorical representations.

The Parish Church in Polcenigo, 'San Giacomo' (St James), so called after the Patron Saint of wayfarers and farmers, was erected by the ruling family of the time, the 'Signori' of Polcenigo in the 12th century, after a pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela, where the tomb of St. James was venerated. When the Republic of Venice ordered the closure of the nearby convent in 1769, also the Church was put up for auction and purchased by the 'Signori' and later donated to the people of Polcenigo. One year later 'San Giacomo' became the Parish Church. The building we can admire today is the result of long renovations that took place mainly in the 1750s, when also the 'Castle' on top of the hill was nearly completely rebuilt. The Church shows an austere facade culminating with a tympanum. The front portal is decorated with two stone bas-relief circles showing St Mark's lion and St James holding a model of the church. The inside of the church houses a great many works of art. Worth mentioning are the superb 14th century fresco of 'The Virgin Mary with Child', few 16th, 17th and 18th century paintings such as 'The Nativity of the Virgin Mary' by Egidio Dall'Oglio, an anonymous altar piece (Venetian School), showing St James adoring the Crucifix and a few outstanding marble altars and sculptures. The Church boasts a great organ, built between 1732 and 1733 by the well-known organ maker Giacinto Pescetti. The organ, which maintains its excellent sonority, was first meant for a church in Venice, in 1810 it was installed here.
