One nave and one apse church with a two-sloped roof. Built and decorated in 1609. The eastern facade is dug in the ground. The church is dedicated of ascension of Jesus Christ. The preserved wall paintings are very precious, representing scenes from Jesus and Holy Mother's life. The gravestone of Byzantine princess Matthaisa Cantacuzena Palaiologina was preserved in the floor of the church for many ages.

The first population of Grobiņa dates back to the Stone Age; later at the beginning of 1AD Grobiņa became a center for the Couronian tribe of the Western Balts. In 7 AD the first Northmen appeared in Grobiņa forming both an agrarian and a long distance trade settlement in Grobiņa and its vicinity. Up until 9 AD Grobiņa was a spacious, world famous (at the time) Couroninan and Viking town - formed settlement. The construction of Grobiņa Medieval Castle relates to the middle of 13 AD - when the Grobiņa Castle was first mentioned as hus to Grobin in historical sources with regards to the events of 1263, when the Livonian Order attacked Grobiņa and burned down the wooden castle of the Couronians. In 1328 Grobiņa Castle was rebuilt on the right bank of Alande River on a raised ground, approximately 200 meters away from the Grobiņa Castle Mound aka Skābardis Hill. In 1560 during the Livonian War the last Master of Livonian Order, Gotthard Kettler pledged Grobiņa Castle for 40,000 florins for 15 years to Albrecht, Duke of Magdeburg. Only in 1608 was the House of Kettler able to recover their hold on Grobiņa. Grobiņa Vogtei became a part of the Duchy of Courland and Semigallia in 1609 and during this time it became a seat to - Duke Jacob with his family also stayed there. Despite the fact that for centuries this castle had been an important military fortification, due to the warfare of 1795 and 1812 the castle lost its function and during the following centuries turned into ruins. Today all that has remained is the medieval castle walls, fortification bastions built in 17 AD, moats and man-made steep slopes.

The main entrance to Changdeokgung Palace, Donhwamun Gate was used on ceremonial occasions, such as when the king went on procession. Court officials used Geumhomun Gate on the western side. Because Jongmyo Shrine had already been built directly in front of the palace, Donhwamun was situated in the southwesternmost part of Changdeokgung. The central part of the palace, the Injeongjeon Hall area, lies to the east and is reached by crossing Geumcheongyo Bridge after entering through the main gate. Restored in 1609, Donhwamun is a two-story wooden gate. The first level provides passage, and the upper level was used for surveillance. In front of the gate is a wide stone platform. The government office district originally extended from here all the way to Jongno street.

Injeongjeon (Hall of Benevolent Rule) is the throne hall of Changdeokgung Palace. It was where major state events were held, such as coronation ceremonies and receptions of foreign envoys and where the officials greeted the king. In front of the hall, rebuilt in 1609, is the courtyard, which was taken as a symbolic area with a royal path and stone markers where officials stood according to rank. A terraced garden was created at the back, leading to Maebong Peak. According to the principles of geomancy, it was believed that the garden channeled the energy of the mountain into the palace. The colonnaded area bordering the courtyard was used for storage and as posts for the royal guards. The outer courtyard bordered by a colonnade in front of Injeongmun Gate achieves exquisite harmony with the uneven natural topography, which was designed by Park Ja-cheong. The two gates (Jinseonmun and Sukjangmun) and its covered walkways enclosing the outer courtyard were restored in 1996.

The first Ariogala church was constructed in 1416 by Vytautas the Great of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. In 1609, King Sigismund III Vasa ordered the governor of Ariogala Sebastijonas Kestortas to finish the construction and repairs of the church which later burned and was rebuilt several times. In 1915, as the First World War started, the church was burned. At the beginning, the prayers used to take place in the masonry Daugirdai chapel in the cemetery of Ariogala, and later the temporary church was installed in the cereal warehouse of the volost. In 1925-1939, at the initiative of parson Antanas Simanavicius, a two-tower three-nave red masonry church was built which was designed by Swiss architect Eduard Peyer (born in 1896, died in 1940), who was residing and working in Lithuania. On 8 December 1938, the church was sanctified, and on 17 September 1939, Archbishop Juozapas Skvireckas consecrated it. The Feast of the Ascension of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, St. Anthony and St. Archangel Michael are celebrated.
